The majority of our rotations consist of three secondary care posts and one primary care post, all of 6 months duration, in years ST1 and ST2; and the ST3 year in primary care, usually as a 12 month post in one practice. We have a small number of rotations that consist of one year in secondary care and two years in primary care; the extra primary care post will have an innovative element, for example working in a community hospital.
The majority or rotations commence in August, with candidates selected the previous February. A few trainees commence in February, having been selected the previous September.
Some of our secondary and primary care posts are taken by trainees on “York, Moors and Coast” rotations. These rotations are classed as York rotations during the recruitment process.
